Swansea LGBT+ Society wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever they are reading it with. This page says how far we have got, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when something stops you.
How this site measures up
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2, level AA. It meets that standard in part: most of it conforms, and the parts we know fall short are listed below. This statement covers https://swansealgbtq.com/.
What has been done
- Every part of the site can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is always visible.
- Text and its background are contrasted to the level the standard asks for.
- Headings run in order, so a screen reader can move through a page by its structure.
- Images that carry meaning have a description; images that are decoration are hidden from screen readers rather than announced as nothing.
- Anything that moves stops when a visitor has asked their device for less motion.
- A reading panel in the corner of every page lets a visitor set this site the way they need it: invert colors, highlight links, bigger text, light spacing, play animations, hide images, dyslexia friendly, big cursor, tooltips, line height, text align, saturation. What they choose stays in their own browser and changes nothing for anybody else.
